Dec. 1, 2021 Obituaries

Sharon Shaw Caulder

Mrs. Sharon Shaw Caulder, 57, of Chesterfield, SC, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, November 25, 2021, with her fur-baby Bo lying by her side. A Celebration of Life Service will be 4:00 PM Tuesday, November 30, 2021 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Rev. Keith Mincey. The family will greet friends from 3:00 – 4:00 PM Tuesday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Due to COVID-19 regulations, our staff is committed to taking care of our guests and families that we serve. We also ask all guests and family members attending visitations and services to please continue social distancing and face coverings are strongly encouraged.

Sharon Lee Shaw was born on February 4, 1964 to Gene and Merilyn Shaw in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. “Shar Bear” adored her father, Gene. A 1981 graduate of Chesterfield High School, Sharon met by-chance her husband Derick while working from a ladder for her father’s cleaning business; she fell hard for him. After several moves, the two settled in Chesterfield, SC where they had 3 children: Christopher, Courtney, and Nicholas. They were the light of her life. Sharon completed her Bachelor’s degree in sociology at Coker College and worked for a number of years in social work.

Sharon was a lifelong lover of all music – from David Cassidy to Darius Rucker. It was a rare occurrence that she didn’t have some sort of music playing in the background. She loved animals (dogs in particular) and wanted to adopt every dog she saw, evidenced by the fact that she nearly did so. Her dogs Ally, Bo, Booger, Choco, and Tigger brought her so much joy and comfort.

While Sharon battled addiction and depression for several years late in her life, she never let go of hope that she would overcome her illness. Her personal mission was to help others understand and work through addiction, to recognize that it is a disease, and to understand that it does not define who you are; she was so much more than her addiction. The memory of her as a loving wife, a caring mother and grandmother, and a selfless friend will never be forgotten. Our broken hearts will forever feel the loss and emptiness of her absence, but will relish the knowledge that she is finally at peace.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Derick Caulder; daughter, Courtney (Chris) Roberts; sons Nicholas Caulder (Hope Hartley) and Christopher (Natasha) Caulder; granddaughters Arya Roberts and Madison Caulder; and grandson Liam Caulder.

She was preceded in death by her parents Gene and Merilyn (Cromer) Shaw and granddaughter Leighton Roberts.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chesterfield County Animal Shelter, 436 Goodale Rd., Chesterfield, SC 29709; (843) 623-3585.
