Phoenix Alexander Bunting

Maverick Axel Bunting

CHERAW – Phoenix Alexander Bunting and Maverick Axel Bunting, entered into heavenly peace, Wednesday, November 10, 2021. They were the infant (twin) sons of Justin and Ashley “Butler” Bunting of Chesterfield, SC.

A graveside service was held 11:00 am, Monday, November 15, 2021 at Zoar United Methodist Church Cemetery, Cheraw, SC. The family received friends following the service.

Surviving are their parents listed above, siblings, Aden Bunting and Emma Bunting, paternal grandparents, Charles and Sherry Bunting, maternal grandparents, Jerry and Charlotte Butler, paternal great grandparents, Lonnie and Margie Sweatt of Chesterfield, SC, Henry White of Cheraw, SC, maternal great grandparent, Joan Gainey of McCall, SC, paternal great great grandparent, Louella Rivers of Cheraw, SC, also surviving are aunts, uncles and several cousins.

Shirley Ann Goodwin

COLUMBIA – Shirley Ann Goodwin, 84, went home to be with the Lord on November 6, 2021. She was the daughter of Arrita Shaw and Elwood Wilkes.

Funeral Services were held 3:00 p.m. Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. A visitation was held from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial was held at 9:00 a.m. Friday, November 12, 2021 in Fort Jackson National Cemetery.

Shirley will be remembered for her sweet demeanor, contagious laugh and giving heart. She had a natural green thumb and loved the solace that she found tending to her flowers and garden. Being a dedicated military wife allowed her to enjoy her love of entertaining family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Henry F. Goodwin, Jr., two daughters, Ginger Schuman, Sandra Morgan (Tony), grandson, Jason Sheffield (Heather), granddaughter, Megan Morgan, great-granddaughter, Makenzie Sheffield, sister, Barbara Atkins (Junior), brother, Jerry Wilkes (Sandra) and many nieces and nephews.

Lillian Hodge Phelps

WALLACE – Lillian Hodge Phelps, 83, passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2021. She was born on January 10, 1938, in Chesterfield, SC.

Mrs. Phelps was a daughter of the late Pearly Hodge and Carrie Hodge. She and her husband, Rhodes Phelps, were married 53 years. She was a former supervisor at Pine Plains manufacturing in Cheraw, SC and later took on a head supervisor position in upper management with Skyline manufacturing in Cheraw, SC.  Mrs. Phelps was a faithful member of the Church of the Nazarene in Bennettsville, SC of which she has been a member for many years.

Mrs. Phelps was a faithful Christian who loved the Lord and her church family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed doing cross word puzzles and spending time with her family. Mrs. Phelps was always the first to check to see how someone was doing and never left the house without a treat for the grandchildren. She enjoyed watching them grow and would send cards through the mail to celebrate holidays and their achievements.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Phelps was also preceded in death by her brother, Carlton Hodge and her sisters, Shirley Alexson and Pauline Spells.

Mrs. Phelps leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband of 53 years, Rhodes Phelps of Wallace, SC; her children, Michael James of Wallace, SC; Betty (Ricky) Rummage of Wallace, SC; and Bobbie (Phillip) McElveen of Cheraw, SC; grandchildren, Wyatt Rummage of Wallace, SC; Amy Driggers of Wallace, SC; Jacob McElveen of Cheraw, SC; and Kimberly (Justin) Robertson of Cheraw, SC; and a great grandchild Gareth Robertson of Cheraw, SC.

A Graveside Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens in Cheraw, SC.

On behalf of the family of Lillian Phelps, we would like to thank you for your presence here today. Your presence shows the love and concern that you have for this family. She was greatly loved and she will be greatly missed.

Paul Donnie Sweatt

CHESTERFIELD – Mr. Paul Donnie Sweatt, age 91, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, November 11, 2021. Funeral services were held 12:00 PM Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Pastor Alisha Hansen and Rev. Max White. The family greeted friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Sweatt was born December 14,1929 in Saxapahaw, NC a son of the late Raleigh Newton and Ruby Smart Sweatt. He was a graduate of Landis High School, as well as North Carolina State University. Paul was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired employee of Bo-Buck Mills with 27 years of service. Mr. Sweatt was an avid Atlanta Braves fan, and also enjoyed playing golf, and working in his shop.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Sweatt was preceded in death by six siblings.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Shirley Sweatt of the home; children: Roger (Kathy) Sweatt of Myrtle Beach, SC, David (Connie) Sweatt, and Carol Ann Sweatt of both of Chesterfield, SC; grandchildren: Hanna (Tyler) Mahaffey, Mary Kathryn (Daniel) Smith, Brooke (Jeremy) Mills, Mary Elizabeth (Max) White, Sara Hochhalter, Caroline (Austin) Brezeale, Emily Sweatt, Olivia Sweatt, and Abigail Sweatt; great-grandchildren: Emma, Isaiah, Fuller, and Hayes; and sister, Joyce K. Sweatt of Puerto Rico.
