Hazel R. Davis
CHESTERFIELD – Mrs. Hazel R. Davis, age 84, entered into rest on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at her home with her family by her side. Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM Friday, February 25, 2022 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Pastor Billy Jack Johnson and Brent Taylor with burial following in the Teal Cemetery. The family greeted friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM Friday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Rivers was born October 13, 1937 in Chesterfield, SC a daughter of the late Mayo and Fannie Brooks Rivers. She was a member of Zoar United Methodist Church and a retired employee of Burlington Indurstries – Cordova Plant. Hazel recently retired from Grits & Groceries of Chesterfield after many years of not only working, but being a friend and offering a smile and time to talk to everyone that came in. She enjoyed watching sports and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Hazel loved her family and especially was proud of being “Great – Grandma” to Joshua.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Davis was also preceded in death by her husband, Rayson Davis; infant son, James Frank Davis; son, Rayson “Frosty” Davis, Jr.; brother, Charles Rivers; and sister, Effie Lou Jerome.
Survivors include her daughter, Patti (Zeke) Chavis; granddaughter, Leigh Ann Parker; great grandson, Joshua Parker; niece, Denise (Jerry) Douglass all of Chesterfield, SC; nephew, David (Pam) Rivers of Waxhaw, NC; sister-in-law, Madge Rivers of Chesterfield, SC; grandchildren of the heart, Brandon Douglass of Manchester, NH, and Elizabeth Douglass of West Columbia, SC.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to hospice nurse, Stacy Beaver and the entire staff of McLeod Hospice for the excellent love and care provided to Mrs. Davis and her family.

Elese D. Griggs
CHESTERFIELD – Mrs. Elese D. Griggs, age 88, entered into rest on Friday, February 25, 2022. Graveside services were held at 4:00 PM Monday, February 28, 2022 at Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery by Pastor Fred McDaniel and Rev. Jeff Gardner. The family received friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Sunday, February 27, 2022 at the family home, 655 Shiloh Acres Rd., Chesterfield, SC.
Mrs. Griggs was born August 15, 1933 in Chesterfield County, SC a daughter of the late Oscar and Era Jones Douglass. She was the secretary of Grady F. Griggs & Son Welding, Inc. and a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening around her azaleas and working in her flowers. Elese enjoyed staying in contact with her friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Griggs was also preceded in death by her husband, Grady F. Griggs.
Survivors include her son, Marty (Susie Trexler) Griggs of Chesterfield, SC; and a host of close friends.

Frederick ‘Fred’ Rivers Haley
Frederick “Fred” Rivers Haley, 78, of Orangeburg, SC, passed away February 1, 2022.
A graveside service will take place in Cheraw, SC, at Old Saint David’s Cemetery on Saturday, March 5 at 2:00 PM. (Near the 2nd Street entrance)
Fred was born in Bennettsville, SC, a son of the late Charles Boyd Haley, Sr. and the late Volina Rivers Haley. He grew up in Cheraw and was a graduate of Cheraw High School. Fred was a railroad engineer with CSX. After working with the railroad, he worked as a roofer. He was a veteran in the United States Air Force. Fred was a dedicated Ham radio operator with friends all over the world.
Survivors include his daughter, Stewart Haley of Hamlet, NC; two sons, Jimmy Haley of Rockingham, NC, and Charlie Ruppe of Charlotte, NC; two sisters, Eleanor Anderson of Fort Myers Beach, FL and Alice Bunton of Thomasville, NC; two brothers, Rev. David Haley of Leland, NC and Charles Haley of Florence, SC; seven grandchildren; and numerous extended family.
He was predeceased by his parents and his brother-in-law, Rev. E. S. Anderson.

CHESTERFIELD – James William Lowery, 76, died Saturday, February 12, 2022. A graveside service was held Sunday, February 20, 2022 at 1pm from the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Chesterfield, SC. He was born August 5, 1945 in Chesterfield County, SC to late John Clarence and Martha Lowery Diggs. Bobby Morton
CHESTERFIELD – Reverend Bobby Morton, age 67, heard the words he had longed to hear and lived for on Saturday evening, February 19, 2022, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” Funeral Services were held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, February 23, 2022 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Pastor Eddie Brock and Brent Taylor with burial following in the Morton Family Cemetery. Other speakers include long-time friend, Roy Walls and Associate Pastor, Rocky Tyner. The family received friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Reverend Morton was born July 1, 1954 in Concord, NC a son of the late Bobby Lynn “Slim” and Flora Mae Furr Morton. He was the retired owner and operator of Bobby’s Auto Service. Under the leading of the Holy Spirit, Preacher Bobby founded Southern Grace Church and was Pastor the past 22 years until God called him home. A man who enjoyed being outdoors riding his horses, hunting, and fishing; his greatest passion was telling others about the good news of Jesus Christ. He was known not only as pastor, but a friend. He loved his Lord, his family, and his church; but his most proud title, “Paw” was earned while babysitting his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Reverend Morton was also preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Morton, Frankie Morton, and David “Doby” Morton; and sister, Linda Collins.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 31 years, Connie Williams Morton of the home; sons, Cody (Janna Burch) Morton, Henry Lee Gulledge of Chesterfield, SC, Ricky (Ellen) Morton of Cheraw, SC, Bobby Morton, Jr. of Kannapolis, NC, daughters, Cortney (Jacob) Brock, Kathy (Scottie) Sims both of Chesterfield, SC, and Jennie (Tommy) Williams of Kannapolis, NC; grandchildren, Kamdyn Brock, Luke Jordan, Fallon Morton, Tommy Williams, Jr., Brittney Wingler, Abigail Williams, Chris Morton, Ricky Morton, Jr., Eric Lloret, Jr., Elena Garcia, Allison Sims, Liberty Sims, Brandy Sims, Loni Sims, and Josh Brown; 6 great – grandchildren; brothers, Tommy (Amanda) Morton, and Mike (Dawn) Morton both of Kannapolis, NC; numerous nieces and nephews; and his faithful fur-baby, “Junkyard.”

Harmon Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Pageland, SC. He was born May 10, 1930 to the late Tom Raley and Beanie Marshall. CHERAW – Mary Frances Causey White
Mrs. Mary Frances Causey White, age 93, entered into rest on Sunday, February 20, 2022 at her home with her family by her side. Funeral services were held at 12:00 PM Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at Westfield Creek Baptist Church by Pastor Jason Pope and Pastor Doug Anderson with burial following in the church cemetery. The family greeted friends from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM Wednesday, prior to the service in the sanctuary of the church.
Mrs. White was born September 1, 1928 in Rockingham, NC a daughter of the late Adam Franklin Causey, Sr. and Myrtle Jordan Causey. She was a graduate of Morven High School, Class of 1947, and a member of Westfield Creek Baptist Church. A dedicated homemaker, Mrs. White enjoyed reading, sewing, canning and making jellies. She was a caregiver for ALL her family in each generation. She had the blessed distinction of 5 generations of family. A true matriarch of her family, Mrs. Frances will be fondly remembered for her deep love for her family, and her very prudent and practical diligence in taking care of her family.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. White was also preceded in death by her husband, William Gregory White, Sr.; sisters, Martha “Teenie” Causey Lee, and Esther Pauline “Nig” Causey; brothers, Adam Causey, Jr., and Bobby Causey; son-in-law, Donnie Webster; and daughter-in-law, Beth Baker White.
Survivors include her children, Alice W.
