Kathleen G. ‘Miss Pete’ Hancock
CHESTERFIELD – Mrs. Kathleen G. “Miss Pete” Hancock, age 97, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 1, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at Cross Roads Baptist Church (Family Life Center) by Pastor Max White and Pastor Jamie Gulledge with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 3:00 – 4:00 PM Tuesday prior to the service in the family life center.
Mrs. Hancock was born November 10, 1924 in Ruby, SC a daughter of the late William and Leila Gibson Gulledge. She was a retired employee of Pageland Corporation Textiles and a faithful member of Cross Roads Baptist Church, where she held the distinct honor of being the oldest member. Miss Pete served the Lord through the years on the church hospitality committee, VBS committee, and was very active in the mission projects. She enjoyed preparing the prisoner packets, migrant bags, and sewing pillow case dresses that were used for International Missions. The true matriarch of her family, Miss Pete loved her Lord, her church, and her family deeply. She also enjoyed sewing, reading and working word search puzzles.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hancock was also preceded in death by her husband, James B. Hancock; daughter, Kathy H. Raffaldt; sisters, Mattie Donahue, Grace Woodward, Rosa Lee Woodward, and Josie Gulledge; and son-in-law, Johnny Jenkins.
Survivors include her children, Elma H. Jenkins of Chesterfield, SC, Leonard “Buck” Hancock of Liberty, NC, Janice H. (Bobby) Brown of Chesterfield, SC, Carolyn H. (Weldon) Sellers, and Cindy H. (Wilbur) Brock both of Cheraw, SC; grandchildren, Jamie (Jami) Brown of Ruby, SC, Michael (April) Brown of Jefferson, GA, Jason (Melanie) Brock of Cheraw, SC, Wesley (Kim) Brock of Jefferson, SC, Philip (Jennifer) Sellers of Tega Cay, SC, and Amanda (Justin) Stanton of Lexington, SC; great grandchildren, Kaylee, Madison, Rachel, Elisabeth, Sarah, Rebekah, Joanna, Nathan, Leah, Micah, Jenna, Boyce, Gracie, Brittany, Will, Kalyn, Peyton, and Jake; great – great grandchildren, Riley and Hudson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff & administration of Anson Health & Rehabilitation for the excellent love and care provided to Mrs. Hancock for the past 8 years.
Memorials may be made to Cross Roads Baptist Church, 4963 Cross Roads Church Road, Ruby, SC 29741 to be used for any mission project.

Donna Sims Hicks
Mrs. Donna Sims Hicks, 75, of Jefferson, SC passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022 in Monroe, NC surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Hicks was born on June 28, 1946 to the late Geneva Phillips Gaddy and Edgar Sims. Mrs. Hicks was a member of White Plains Baptist Church where she enjoyed her time leading in children’s church. She was an extraordinarily strong woman that loved her family, especially her grandchildren; she was very active in their life and tried to attend all of their school and sporting events. She enjoyed traveling, cooking and most of all cleaning. She worked at Challenger for 20 years until it closed. After which time, she was extremely proud of going to school and earning her certificate as a nursing assistant. She worked in the hospital and care facilities before retiring from CMC Union. Donna had a great love for people and enjoyed spending time with and taking care of others. She was also preceded in death by her grandparents, Jenny and Turner Phillips, who played a big role in her childhood. Mrs. Hicks is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, Cecil Dennis Hicks; daughter, Denise Jackson (Todd) of Jefferson, SC; son, Dr. Shad Hicks (Jacqueline) of Oakboro, NC; grandchildren, Lacy McManus (Tony) of Jefferson, SC, Lauren Freeman (Chase) of Columbia, SC, and Zoe’ Hicks; great-grandchildren, Rylan, Brody, and Bailey McManus; and mother-in-law, Leona Hicks of Jefferson, SC. There was a Celebration of Life Service on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at 4:00pm at White Plains Baptist Church with Dr. Shad Hicks and Reverend Ronnie Hargett officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to White Plains Baptist Church, PO Box 219, Jefferson, SC 29718. Peggy Robinson Kirkley
JEFFERSON – Mrs. Peggy Robinson Kirkley, age 90, entered into rest on Sunday, June 26, 2022. Funeral services were held at 12:00 PM Thursday, June 30, 2022 at Fork Creek United Methodist Church by Pastor David Christopher with the eulogy being delivered by Mr. Lynn Horton. The committal followed in the church cemetery. The family greeted friends from 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM prior to the service in the sanctuary of the church. The family also received friends throughout the day on Wednesday at the home of her son, Donnie & Shirley Kirkley.
Mrs. Kirkley was born September 3, 1931, in Pageland, SC to the late Yancey and Rosa Lee Ingram Robinson. She retired from Jefferson Elementary as a Teacher’s Aide with 15 years of service and a former employee of Sacony Industries. Mrs. Kirkley was a faithful member of Fork Creek United Methodist Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher in the kindergarten class. Her love of children was immeasurable. Mrs. Peggy enjoyed working in her garden and flowers, and taking care of her family.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Kirkley was also preceded in death by her husband, G.W. Kirkley; and son, Ricky Kirkley.
Survivors include her sons, Jimmy (Cindy) Kirkley, and Donnie (Shirley) Kirkley; daughter-in-law, Sandra Kirkley; grandchildren, Angie (Woody) Atkinson, Eddie (Anitra) Kirkley, Laura Ann (John) Bell, Amy (Jason) Lineberger, Taylor (Joseph) Bell, Reuben (Sarah) Terry, Brian (Patricia) Kirkley, Daniel (Beverly) Kirkley, and Kevin (Amy) Kirkley; 19 great grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Jean (Bob) Simpson, and Frances Duncan; and 2 nephews.
