William Dennis Curtis Sr.
CHESTERFIELD – Mr. William Dennis Curtis, Sr., age 66, entered into rest on Wednesday, July 13, 2022. Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM Saturday, July 16, 2022 from the chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Brent Taylor with burial following at the Chesterfield Cemetery. The family greeted friends following the service at the cemetery.
Mr. Curtis was born July 3, 1956 in Wadesboro, NC to William “Bill” Curtis and the late Jean Hancock Curtis. Dennis was a welder and enjoyed his work at Curtis Oil Company. He was a devoted father and grandfather, who loved his entire family. Dennis enjoyed cooking, traveling, following politics, and loved his dogs. His most enjoyable times were spent with his grandchildren at their many sporting events.
Survivors include his children; Amanda Jean (Perry Carpenter) Curtis, Jennifer Curtis (Brandon) Grainger, William “Will” Dennis Curtis Jr. all of Chesterfield, SC; grandchildren, Scarlett Alyssa Grainger and Everett Keith Grainger; brothers, Dean (Josephine) Curtis, Douglas (Carol Ann) Curtis, Danny (Terrie) Curtis all of Chesterfield, SC; sisters, Teresa Welch and Tenita Sellers both of Chesterfield, SC; numerous nieces and nephews; brother of the heart, Johnny Rivers; and special friend, Rosa Privette.

Elizabeth ‘Lib’ Overcash Miles
RUBY – Mrs. Elizabeth “Lib” Overcash Miles, age 88, entered into rest on Thursday, July 14, 2022. Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM Monday, July 18, 2022 at Cross Roads Baptist Church by Pastor Max White and Dr. Troy Rogers with the eulogy being delivered by her daughter, Debra Wallace. The committal service followed in the church cemetery. The family receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 PM Sunday afternoon at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.
Mrs. Miles was born September 2, 1933 in Concord, NC a daughter of the late Reverend Roy and Thelma Cline Overcash. She grew up in Concord, NC and attended Concord High School. On May 31, 1952, Mrs. Lib married the love of her life, the Reverend Wade H. Miles of Ruby, SC. She was quick to let everyone know she was a city girl who quickly learned the country way of living. Mrs. Lib and Preacher Wade started their family and worked alongside each other in every walk of life. From farming on the family land to serving the Lord together in ministry, they were an inseparable team.
Mrs. Miles retired after 25 years of service from B.C. Moore & Sons department store, where she was the manager of the shoe department. A faithful pastor’s wife, one of her passions was working with the young people in the church. She was a faithful member of Cross Roads Baptist Church, where she served as church organist for many years. Her hobbies included shopping, cooking for her family, playing the piano, and working puzzles. Of all things in life that brought her enjoyment, her most precious job title was “Grandma” given to her by her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Miles was also preceded in death by beloved husband of 64 years, Reverend Wade H. Miles; son-in-law, Nicky Sellers; and great granddaughter, Anna Grace Sellers.
Survivors include her children, Doris Ann Sellers of Chesterfield, SC, Pam (William) Stancil of Ruby, SC, and Debi (David) Wallace of Blythewood, SC; 7 grandchildren, Steven (Angie) Sellers, Bryan (Jennifer) Sellers, Jennifer Sellers, Chris (Ashley) Stancil, Andrew (Carla) Stancil, Katherine (Daniel) Wood, and Ian (Olivia) Wallace; great grandchildren, Austin, Josh, Haley, August, Presley, and Shelley; brothers-in-law, George Washington Miles of Colorado Springs, CO, Jerry Brooks (Sieglinde) Miles of Lancaster, SC; sister-in-law, Rachel Miles of Mt. Croghan, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sara Mathis Starling
SOCIETY HILL – Sara Mathis Starling, 70 died Tuesday, July 12th, 2022. Born in Cheraw, S.C, she was the daughter of the late Woodrow Wilson and Margaret Linton Mathis. She was a faithful member of Harris Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed raising and taking care of her many cats. She also was a member of the Virginian Fan club, and watched the TV show every night. She also enjoyed talking on the phone each day to her special friends, Wayne Bryant, Lessie Linton, and Michelle Tolson.
Surviving is her husband of 32 years, Edward Starling of the home, daughters, Janet (A.J) Davis of Society Hill, S.C., Chrissy (Rawhide) Blackburn of Pageland, S.C., Becky (Matthew) Cason of Society Hill, S.C., grandchildren, Margaret Alice Wilson, Baden Edward Davis, Samantha Grace & Jacob Bryant Cason. Special nieces, Djuana Buchanan, Brandi Hansen, Marian, Edwina, & Margo Mathis. Special nephew Brandon Buchanan. Also surviving a brother, Woodrow W. Mathis, Jr. and sister Anna Margaret Tucker.
The family received friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, July 14th, 2022, at Kiser Funeral Home in Cheraw. S.C.
A funeral service was held at 2:00 pm, Friday, July 15th 2022 at Harris Creek Baptist Church, Society Hill S.C.
Burial was in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens, Cheraw, S.C.

Gladys I. Suggs
DILLON – Services for Gladys I. Suggs were held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation was held 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Suggs, 88, died Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at the Pruitt Health in Dillon.
Born in Dillon County, SC, January 28, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Garrison Ivey and Ressie Cook Ivey. She was a member of Congregational Holiness Church, and was retired as an Assistant Manager at Family Dollar.
Survivors include her daughter, Marie Carnes (James) of Dillon; son, Rodney Suggs (Tami) of Cheraw, SC; adopted grandson, Chris Jacobs; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.
