Betty Rae Griggs Bailey

Betty Rae Griggs Bailey passed away peacefully on October 27, 2022 after a brief illness.

The daughter of the late William Curtis Griggs and Sallie (Boswell) Griggs, she was born on December 31,1936 in Rockingham, NC.  She is survived by her husband of 67 years, John, sons Johnny (Carol) and Chris (Beth), grandchildren Jillian (Fredrick), Grayson (Andrew), Ian and Dorian and great grandchildren Owen and Isaac.  She is also survived by her sister Shirley Griggs White and niece Susan (Sera).  She was preceded in death by her brother William Paul Griggs who is survived by wife Kappie, children Katherine, Paul and Edward and their loving families.

A lifelong resident of Chesterfield County, she held several positions in bookkeeping at various industries / institutions and loved the precise and detailed responsibilities that each entailed.  A true pet lover, she will be missed by her cats Izzy and Sweetie and numerous strays that she loved equally.  She enjoyed working in the yard, word games, puzzles and reading.

Although she professed to not enjoy cooking, she was “the best” when it came to “country cooking” and everyone in the family will miss and fondly remember their favorite dish from “Nana”.

She will be remembered as a loyal friend and someone who was quick to lend a hand when in need, but also someone who just as quickly let you know when something was left undone, or half done – we will all miss those critiques that were also administered out of love and caring.

In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to the Chesterfield County Animal Shelter.

A private service with family is scheduled for a later date.

Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home (www.mrcfuneralhome.com) of Chesterfield, SC is serving the Bailey family.
