Richard Wayne Furr
CHERAW – Richard Wayne Furr, 77, died on Monday, December 5, 2022. Born, August 18, 1945, in Laurinburg, NC, he was a son of the late Bob England and the late Esther Mae Chavis Furr. Richard graduated from Cheraw High School where he paid football and basketball. He went on to graduate from Florence Darlington Technical College with a degree in drafting and architecture. Mr. Furr loved working, completing many projects in Chesterfield and Marlboro Counties. He enjoyed boating, fast cars, listening to music, and going to sporting events.
Along with his parents, listed above, Richard was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Wayne Furr; and brothers, Jackie Furr, and Prentiss Lee Furr.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, a son, Michael Furr of Myrtle Beach, SC; a daughter, Michelle Furr Kissiah of Wendell, NC; brothers, Perry Marshall England, Ricky England, and Scott Furr; grandchildren, Sean Michael Furr, Christopher Liam Cole Furr, Austin G. Newton, Gabriel Wade Watson, and Robert England, Kessler; and three great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Kiser Funeral Home in Cheraw, SC. Burial will follow in Chavis Cemetery in Bennettsville, SC.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. just prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
Kiser Funeral Home has been entrusted to serve the Furr family in their time of grief.

Kim Cassidy Head
CAMDEN – Kim Cassidy Head, 55, died Wednesday, December 7, 2022. Born, December 6, 1967, in Columbia, SC, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Arthur and Ina Thompson Cassidy. Kim was a graduate of Coker College and was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Cheraw, SC. She was a loving mother and enjoyed playing the piano. She also loved music and cooking, and animals.
She was preceded in death by her parents, listed above.
Kim leaves behind to cherish her memory, sons, Raymond Bates of Oakland, CA, and Ryan Head of Hanahan, SC; a daughter, Rebekah Bates of Yanceyville, NC; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at Kiser Funeral Home in Cheraw, SC. Inurnment will follow in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens in Cheraw, SC.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. just prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.

Lisa Thompson Oliver
PAGELAND – Mrs. Lisa Thompson Oliver, age 58, entered into rest on Wednesday, December 7, 2022. Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM Monday, December 12, 2022 at Providence Baptist Church by Pastor David Bridwell, Reverend Don Rhyne, and Dr. Roger Wall with burial following in the church cemetery. The family greeted friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM Monday, prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Oliver was born June 12, 1964 in Pageland, SC a daughter of the late Melvin and Katie Lee Thompson. She was a 1983 graduate of Central High School and former employee of J & J Grocery, and CHESCO Services. Lisa was a member of Providence Baptist Church. At age 23, she took in two children to raise as her own and her family was complete. Lisa enjoyed fishing, traveling, and always “looking to find a good deal” shopping. Of all things in her life that brought joy, being “Nana” to her grandbabies was at the top of her list.
Survivors include her husband of 35 years, W.K. Oliver of the home; children, Yolanda (Chris) Smith of Harrisburg, NC, and Levander (Wendy) Oliver of El Paso, TX; grandchildren, Caleb Smith, Cayden Smith, Alyssa Oliver, and Knowlton Oliver; sister, Tammy (Larry) Leaird of Pageland, SC; brother, Melvin (Carol) Thompson of Pageland, SC; nephew, Kyle Leaird.
Memorials may be made to a Hospice organization of one’s choice.

Alan Bruce Polson
WALLACE – Alan Bruce Polson, 65, died on Thursday, December 8, 2022. Born, January 9, 1957, in Bennettsville, SC, he was a son of the late Roy Clinton Polson, Sr. and the late Shirley Langley Polson. Alan loved the outdoors and nature. He loved to do yardwork and start a fire. Alan was a family man and enjoyed working on family projects and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He retired from Stanley tools with 41 years of service and was an avid NC Tarheel fan.
Along with his parents, listed above, Alan was preceded in death by a grandson, Braxton Polson; and a sister-in-law, Lisa Polson.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 43 years, Phyllis Moore Polson of the home; sons, Anthony B. Polson of Wallace, SC, and Clinton A. Polson (Tracy) of Wallace, SC; a daughter, April P. Driggers (Daniel) of Wallace, SC; brothers, Roy Clinton Polson, Jr. (Debra) of Wallace, SC, and Dennis L. Polson of Cameron, NC; sisters, Judy P. Turner (D.T.) of Wallace, SC, and Sandra Outlaw of Wallace, SC; and grandchildren, Hunter Polson, Brooke Norton, Addison Polson, Deacon Polson, Luke Polson, Emalyn Driggers, A.J. Polson, Violet Polson, and Laklyn Driggers.
A funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Kiser Funeral Home. Burial followed in Hickory Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Wallace, SC.
The family received friends from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. just prior to the service at the funeral home.

Billy Sellers
CHERAW – Mr. Billy Sellers, age 86, entered into rest on December 9, 2022. He was born April 30, 1936 and was the youngest child of Jesse Washington (Watt) and Phodie Boan Sellers. In 1954, he married his “Honey,” Betty Joyce Gibson Sellers. They would have celebrated their 68th anniversary on December 24.
Mr. Sellers worked in the plywood industry for many years before working with his good friend, Jack King at Nivens Hardware. His last employment was as owner of Professional Roofers with his son, Timmy Sellers. He was a jack-of-all trades who could build or fix anything, and he never met a stranger.
Mr. Sellers was a founding member of Calvary Baptist Church in Cheraw and was steadfast in his love for Jesus. He was affectionately known as the “Candy Man” sharing his sweet treats at church and with those he met along the way.
He was also known as a Secret Santa giving out countless two-dollar bills. In 2016, Billy was honored by the Cheraw Police Department as their citizen of the year.
Mr. Sellers was predeceased by his parents listed above; 2 brothers, Bliss Washington Sellers, and Prentiss Aaron Sellers; 3 sisters, Foye Sellers Wallace, Sallie Sellers Johnson, and Nellie Lou Sellers; 2 brothers-in-law, Dozier Wallace, and Joe Burch.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Joyce Gibson Sellers; his son, Timmy Sellers and wife, Pam; his daughter, Kaye Sellers Braswell and her husband, Ward; 4 grandchildren, Jonathan Johnson, Matthew Braswell and wife, Chrissy, Emily Sellers, and Kirkley Braswell Renwick and her husband, Robert; 4 great grandsons who brought him much joy, Carter and Grayson Braswell, and Miles and Walt Renwick; his sister who spoiled him, Jennie Sellers Burch; brother-in-law, Olin Johnson; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Billy Sellers were held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 13, 2022 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Pastor Dave Bradshaw and Brent Taylor with burial following in the Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens. The family received friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Monday at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Matthew Braswell, Robert Renwick, Andy Burch, Danny Johnson, Dennis Johnson, and David Caulder.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the giver’s choice.
