Kenny Newsom

MILLSBORO, Del. – Mr. Harry Kent “Kenny” Newsom of Millsboro, Delaware, formerly of Cheraw, made his entrance into Heaven on May 21, 2023 surrounded by his family at home. He was 82 years old. Kenny was born in 1940 in Hartsville, SC to Alvin Leo Newsom and Dorothy Best Guimond.

In his younger years he raced motorcycles at the track by the Cheraw Airport, as well as having his own plane and often flying over Cheraw. He loved yard work and building with his hands, which led him to build the home in West Virginia where he lived for a time. All of his neighbors and friends nick-named him Mr. Fix-It, because of his ability to repair anything. He loved hunting and fishing. Kenny worked in the used car business most of his life, starting with his dad at Newsom’s Fine Cars. He then owned his business, Newsom Auto and Wrecker. Before retiring, he owned a wholesale car business. In his retirement years, he moved to the coast of Delaware because of his love of the water and enjoyed boating, crabbing and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Alvin Leo Newsom, Jr., and his parents listed above. He is survived by his wife, Linda Newsom, of the home; children Debbie Pecora of Baltimore, MD; Brenda Bartell (Michael) of Ninety Six, SC; Harry Newsom (Beth), Melody McLeod (Michael), Jim Newsom (Vickie), Ashley Bost (Anthony), Heather Newsom, Kimberly Newsom, all of Cheraw, SC. He is also survived by a step-daughter, Jennifer Weist (Scott) of Ephrata, PA; his brother, David Lawrence Newsom (Donna) of Norristown, PA; his sister, Winnie Newsom Clarke of Columbus, GA; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Robert ‘Bobby’ N. Polson Jr.

Robert “Bobby” Newsom Polson, Jr. 86, died Saturday, June 3, 2023. Born in Cheraw, SC he was a son of the late Robert and Edelle B. Polson. He worked for Burlington Industries (James Fabrics) 20 years and INA Bearing for 16+years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Cheraw, SC. Mr. Polson was an extraordinary handyman. He was known for his crafted undercounter jar openers.

Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Billie Jean Rogers Polson of the home, a brother, Ira Craig Polson of Sierra Vista, AZ, an aunt, Gladys Leaphart of Lexington, SC, also several cousins, children of the heart David (Janet) Caulder of Chesterfield, SC, grandchildren of the heart, Lynsee (Trent) Winburn, great grandchildren of the heart, Juliette, Jovie and John-Calvin.

He was preceded in death by his parents listed above, a son, Robert N. Polson, III, also an aunt, Mary Jacobs.

The family received friends 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Monday, June 5, 2023 at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, SC

A graveside service was held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, June 6, 2023 in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens.

The family requests that due to hot weather, that all attending the funeral service wear casual clothing.

The family would like to thank the many friends that have lovingly helped take care of Mr. Polson, especially the nurses and staff of Crescent Hospice.
