Mary Clarice Freeman

CHERAW – Mrs. Mary Clarice Freeman, age 86, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 12, 2023. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Friday, August 18, 2023 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Reverend Chris Hall and Brent Taylor with burial following in the Brown Spring’s Baptist Church Cemetery. The family greeted friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Friday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Freeman was born August 20, 1936 in Patick, SC a daughter of the late Murray and Mary Roscoe Freeman. A member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Clarice was active in the church including Sunday school and fellowship committee. She had a heart for animals and loved gardening. Clarice was the matriarch of her family and always did everything she could to take care of the family. Clarice loved her family dearly and was like a mother and mother-in-law to her niece and nephew and their spouses.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Freeman was also preceded in death by her husband; A. J. Wilks; brothers, Jim Freeman, Howard Freeman, Herbert Freeman, and Floyd Freeman; sisters, Yvonne Allen and Louise Waters; in addition to numerous nephews.

Survivors include her nephew; Michael (Debbie) Allen of Society Hill, SC; niece, Deborah (Jeff) Bledsoe of Horse Shoe, NC; great-nephew, Justin Bledsoe; great-nieces, Tierney Bledsoe of Waterloo, SC, StellaGrace Allen of Society Hill, SC; great-great-niece Serafina Foster of Waterloo, SC; in addition to numerous cousins, great-nieces and nephews; and her extended Pleasant Hill church family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, c/o Arlene Hancock, 1680 Sam Jones Rd, Patrick, SC 29584.
