Jenny Dixon
CHERAW – It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jenny Carol Dixon, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Jenny passed away on April 11, 2024, at her residence in Cheraw, South Carolina. She was born on July 4, 1954, in West Columbia, South Carolina, to parents who loved her dearly.
Jenny will be remembered for her warm and compassionate heart. She had a passion for music and shared her talent by playing the piano. Her love for music extended to her family, as she took joy in teaching her grandchildren how to play as well. Jenny’s giving nature extended beyond music; she was known as the “candy lady” for her habit of sharing sweets, particularly mentos and mints, wherever she went.
In her professional life, Jenny made a mark as a Certified Nursing Assistant after retiring from Galey and Lord in Society Hill, South Carolina, where she worked in the textiles industry. Her dedication and hard work were evident in all aspects of her life.
Jenny cherished her family above all else, especially her husband, Marion Dixon; her children – Jerry Dixon, and Matthew (Kristie) Dixon – and her grandchildren, Luke (Mary-Audrey) Dixon and Makenzie Dixon. She also leaves behind her sister Kay (Preston) Bryant and brother Larry Amick, who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
Jenny was preceded in death by her parents; Elbert and Helen Louise Nelson Amick.
The family received friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 15, 2024, at Kiser Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Midway Baptist Church in Cheraw, SC. Burial followed in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens.
May Jenny Carol Dixon’s legacy of love and kindness live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

Beverly Coward McDuffie
GREENWOOD – Beverly Anne Coward McDuffie passed away February 27, 2024, at the home of her daughter, Beverly M. Marion, in Anderson, SC.
Born May 29, 1932, in her beloved hometown of Cheraw, SC, Beverly was the youngest child of Isabelle Rogers Coney Coward and William Clyde Coward, Sr.
Beverly grew up in Cheraw, Married and had four children. She began her professional career in banking with South Carolina National Bank (SCN) in Cheraw. In 1970 she moved her family to Columbia, SC for her children to attend the University of South Carolina as day students. To her credit as a single mother, all her children graduated from USC, as she continued her banking career. She was one of the first VISA representatives for SCN, traveling around the state to introduce merchants to the concept of a VISA card. She was perfect for the job as she was beautiful, friendly, and vivacious. She ended her career as a loan officer. Upon retirement, she moved to Greenville, SC to be close to her daughters and their families.
Beverly will mostly be remembered as a devout Christian and a devoted mother. She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Cheraw, SC. Her membership provided her with a foundation of faith, strength, and friendship. She considered herself most fortunate to belong to this church and to call Cheraw her home.
Beverly is survived by three children: Beverly M. Marion (Frankie) of Greenville, SC, Katherine M. Rogers (Mitch) of Greenwood, SC, and Michael C. McDuffie of Atlanta, GA.
Affectionately known as “BB”, she has four grandchildren and six great grandchildren, Frankie Marion (Brooke) and sons Frankie and Gariel of Columbia, SC, Henry Marion of Greenville, SC, Preston Marion (Alexa) and children Brooks, Helen, Sabette and Henrey Alexander “Ace” of Anderson, SC, and Beverly Anne Rogers of Greenville, SC, many nieces and nephews and her constant companion and loving dog, “Poppy”.
She was predeceased by her oldest son, William Charles “Trip” McDuffie, her four siblings and their spouses, Isabel Coward Parker Forhan (Ernie), Kathryn Griffith Coward, William Clyde Coward, Jr (Jeanette), and Lucille Coward Savitz (Joe).
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at First United Methodist Church, 117 Third Street, Cheraw, SC 29520, with burial at Old Saint David’s Cemetery, 91 Church Street, Cheraw, SC 29520.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Old Saint David’s Cemetery Association, PO Box 1196, Cheraw, SC 29520.

Ruby Rivers Moore
CHESTERFIELD – Mrs. Ruby Rivers Moore, age 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 7, 2024 with her daughter by her side. Graveside services were held at 2:30 PM Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery officiated by Reverend Jerry C. McManus. The family received friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Wednesday at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.
Mrs. Moore was born February 14, 1934 in Chesterfield, SC a daughter of the late Fred C. and Ruth Rivers. She was a graduate of Chesterfield High School, Class of 1953 and a faithful member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Mrs. Ruby was a dedicated caregiver to her mother for many years. She loved her home and family and enjoyed growing her vegetable garden and working in her yards. She also had a special place in her heart for her beloved dogs, “Corky” and “Frances.”
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Moore was also preceded in death by her husband, John W. Moore; sister, Marolyn Moore; and brother, Jack W. Rivers.
Survivors include her daughter, Theresa Ann (Mike) Langvardt of Monroe, NC; grandchildren, Bailey (Erich) Straughn of Charlotte, NC, and Brett Langvardt of Monroe, NC; 2 great grandchildren, Caroline Louise Straughn and Julia Anne Straughn; brother, Jimmy (Carolyn) Rivers of Chesterfield, SC; numerous nieces and nephews including special niece and best friend, Twila Rivers (Jerry Shaw) of Chesterfield, SC.
