Roger Lee Brock

CHERAW – It is with profound sadness and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Roger Lee Brock, Sr., a cherished member of the Cheraw, SC community. Born on May 1, 1948, in Cheraw, SC, Roger was a beloved son, father, grandfather, and nephew. His dedication to his family and his unwavering work ethic were hallmarks of his character, earning him the endearing title of “Family Man.”
Roger derived great joy from the simple pleasures in life, whether it was spending time with his loved ones, indulging in his favorite pastimes of fishing and hunting, or reveling in the solace of gospel music. As a devout member of Faith Fellowship Church, Roger found solace and comfort in his faith, which guided him throughout his life.
Professionally, Roger dedicated his talents as a mechanic in the industrial sector, serving diligently at Highland Industries, formerly known as Burlington Industries. Known for his work ethic and commitment to excellence, he left an indelible mark on his colleagues and the industry as a whole.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ruby Brock Garris; a son, Roger Lee Brock, Jr; and a sister, Shirley Montgomery.
Roger leaves behind to cherish his memory, his son, Chris Brock and wife Crystal of Cheraw; grandsons, Cole Brock and Clayton Brock and wife Sera; great-grandchildren, Claira Brock and Chloe Brock; a brother-in-law, Jim Montgomery; and nephew, Brent Montgomery.
Funeral services and ceremonies in honor of Roger Lee Brock were held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 10, 2024, at Kiser Funeral Home. Burial followed at Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens in Cheraw, SC.
The family received friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., just prior to the service at the Funeral Home.
His legacy of love, dedication, and kindness will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
As we mourn the loss of Roger, let us also remember the light and love he brought into our lives. May his memory be a blessing, and may he rest in eternal peace.

Elizabeth ‘Lib’ Hancock Eddins

RUBY – Mrs. Elizabeth “Lib” Hancock Eddins, age 88, entered into rest peacefully on Friday, May 10, 2024. Funeral services were held at 5:00 PM Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at Ruby Baptist Church by Pastor Ronald Thurman and Nathan Gardner with burial following in the Ruby Cemetery. The family greeted friends from 4:00 – 5:00 PM Tuesday, prior to the service in the sanctuary of the church.

Mrs. Eddins was born October 28, 1935 in Mt. Croghan, SC a daughter of the late Robert Paul Hancock and Millie Jordan Hancock. She was a graduate of Mt. Croghan High School, Class of 1953. She was employed by Nyanza Color and Chemical Company, Chesterfield Manufacturing, Pee Dee Farm Credit, and Federal Landbank, the Election Commission, Ruby Town Council, substitute at Ruby Elementary, and clerk/secretary at Ruby Baptist Church for 39 years.

In addition to her parents, Lib was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Donald Lon Eddins; her daughter, Janet Morton Hudson of Chesterfield; a son, Donald Edward Eddins of Ruby; and her brother, Tim Hancock of Pageland.

Mrs. Eddins is survived by her sons, David Russell Eddins of Ruby, and Robert Scott (Gini) Eddins of Cheraw; sister-in-law, Pat Mangum Hancock of Pageland; seven grandchildren, Lori Morton of Ruby, Kristin and Trey (Rebecca) Hutson both of Cheraw, SC, Monika Eddins of Chesterfield, Cameron and Dr. Greer Eddins both of Cheraw, and Holt (Caroline) Eddins of Chesterfield; three great grandchildren, Tybee Eddins, Jackson Deese, and Phoenix Mucci; daughter of the heart and dedicated caregiver, Dana Jacobs Evans of Pageland.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Ruby Baptist Church, P.O. Box 5, Ruby, SC 29741; or to the Hospice of Chesterfield Foundation, 122 Main Street, Chesterfield, SC 29709.

Peggy Davis Robeson

CHESTERFIELD – Mrs. Peggy Davis Robeson, 87 passed away peacefully at Springhill Assisted Living in Pageland, South Carolina on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. Funeral services were held at Zoar United Methodist Church, 2842 Zoar Road, Cheraw, South Carolina, on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 11:00 am officiated by Reverend Dan Sullivan and Mr. Brent Taylor with burial following in the Davis Family Plot at Zoar United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation was from 10:00 am – 11:00 am prior to the service at the church.

Peggy was born on June 29, 1936 to the late George Robert and Rassie Turnage Davis. She was a graduate of Zoar High School and Winthrop College and taught in the Anson County, North Carolina school system for 35 years. Peggy also served on the Chesterfield area schools advisory council for many years. Peggy was a faithful member of Zoar United Methodist Church her entire life and served as church treasurer for many years. She and her husband, the late Bill Robeson, were owners of Snow Hill Processing Plant for over 20 years and she was also the head greeter and check writer for her son, Bob, during his 15-year ownership of the Darlington Livestock Market in Darlington, S.C.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, and her brothers, William R. “Bill” and Laylon “Pee Wee” Davis.  She is survived by her son, Bob, daughter- in-law Karen, and grandson Conner Robeson; as well as sisters-in-law Mary Elizabeth Vaughan Davis, Susanne McPherron Davis, Becky Robeson Burch, and Helen Robeson Moore; and her nieces and nephews.

The family is very appreciative for the exemplary care given to Peggy at Springhill Assisted Living in Pageland and by Gentiva Hospice.
