Chesterfield County Fair offers seven days of fun May 26-June 2

From hot dog eating and jam/jelly making contests to dunking your favorite Pageland official or riding a mechanical bull, the Chesterfield County Fair will offer something for everyone during its seven-day run at Conbraco Park, located at 1113 W. McGregor St. in Pageland.
The fair is from May 26 to
June 1. Admission to the fair is $5.
In addition to carnival rides and food vendors, there will be a petting zoo, pony rides and rock climbing.
The Chesterfield County Fair is sponsored by the Town of Pageland and hosted by Pageland Main Street.
It is the first county fair in many years,” said Sherri Hancock, Pageland Main Street director. “We are trying to bring it back and give people something to be excited about.”

Fair and rides
The rides for the fair will be open May 23-25 before the rest of the fair opens. The schedule is from 6 to 10 p.m. May 23-24 and from 4 to 10 p.m. May 25.
Tickets will be needed to ride May 23, 27-28, and 30, and three to five tickets will be required per ride. One ticket costs $1.25, 20 tickets are $20, and 45 tickets are $40.
Other days will have wristbands. The cost is $25 for May 24, 29 and 31 and the cost is $30 for May 25-26 and June 1 .
The rides will operate from 3 to 10 p.m. May 26; from 6 to 10 p.m. May 27-31; and from 1 to 10 p.m. June 1.
On opening day, May 26, the fair will operate from 4 to 11 p.m. It will be open from 1o a.m. to 11 p.m. May 27 and June 1. For May 28-30, the time will be 4 to 10 p.m. The fair will be open from 4 to 11 p.m. May 31.
Chesterfield County Fair shirts are available for purchase for $12.

Entertainment
The stage will be filled with gospel performances May 26.
Peace and Love Band will perform from 9 to 11 p.m. May 27.
Ronald Dills will perform from 8 to 10 p.m. May 28
Preston Duffie will perform from 8 to 10 p.m. May 29.
Maddie Rean will perform from 8 to 10 p.m. May 30
Sho Tyme will perform from 9 to 11 p.m. May 31.
Lucas James will perform from 9 to 11 p.m. June 1. He is sponsored by Chesterfield County Council and will close out the Chesterfield County Fair that evening.
During the fair, the dunking booth will feature various Town of Pageland department heads. Three balls will cost $5. The person who raises the most money will receive a steak dinner for their entire department from Pageland Main Street.

Contests
Entries are needed for the
jams and jelly contest June 1. This is a battle for bragging rights of the best jam or jelly in Chesterfield County. Judging will be based on overall appearance, texture, consistency, and taste.
The jam/jelly must be entered in the name of the person who made it and only one entry per person. The contest is for amateurs only, and each jam/jelly is made from scratch. No freezer jams will be allowed. According to Health Department rules, the jams/jellies must be in glass jars that can be stored at room temperature.
A copy of the recipe with a list of ingredients must be provided on a 3×5 index card with the recipe’s name
 and the contestant’s name.
A hot dog eating contest will be
held at noon June 1. It is open to persons 18 years and older. Contestants will have five minutes to eat as many hot dogs as possible.
Anyone interested in the contest can pick up an application at Pageland Town Hall, 307 E. McGregor St., which is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
