Timothy Dale Goodwin

CHESTERFIELD – Mr. Timothy Dale Goodwin, aged 64, passed away on Saturday, 20, 2024. He was born on August 3, 1959, to the late Curtis Lee Goodwin, Sr. and Vernelle Murray Vereen in Cheraw, South Carolina. Mr. Goodwin honorably served in the Navy during Operation Desert Storm and was deployed across Northern Africa and Europe. Following his service, he dedicated his skills as a machine operator at INA Plant Two.

Tim was an individual who found solace and joy in the outdoors. His passion was tending to his yard, indulging in rounds of golf, casting a line while fishing, and practicing marksmanship with his firearms. Known for his easy-going nature, Tim was always quick with a joke and a smile, making him a cherished friend to all who crossed his path.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents listed above.

Left to cherish his memory is his fiancé of the home, Alison Roscoe; his son, Timothy Shelton Goodwin (Victoria) of Chesapeake, VA; his daughter, Aspen Goodwin Cumbo (Brian) of Winterville, NC; grandchildren, Judith Goodwin, Hattie Goodwin, Leighton Cumbo, and Sutton Cumbo; and his brother, Curtis Goodwin Jr. of Cheraw, SC.

A Memorial Service was held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, in the Chapel of Kiser Funeral Home. The family received friends from 2:00- 3:00 PM Tuesday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Kiser Funeral Home has been entrusted to serve the Goodwin family.

Franklin Delano Hinson

PAGELAND/BACONTON, GEORGIA – Mr. Franklin Delano Hinson, known fondly as “Del”, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024. Del was born on February 9, 1934, in Albany, Georgia to the late Bennie and Flossie Etheridge Hinson.

Del retired from the United States Navy after serving 20 years as an Electrician’s Mate First Class. Del was the recipient of the Good Conduct Award for his exemplary service. Although a man of few words, Del had a deep love for God, his family and his country.

Del was a skilled bowler; he found joy in the sport and cherished the camaraderie with his bowling league buddies for many years. Additionally, he found a passion in being Ham Radio Operator and participating in various civil war reenactments. He was proud of his service and held his military duty dear to his heart. In his later years, Del developed an appreciation for wrestling and indulged in watching western movies.

In addition to his parents, Del was also preceded in death by his brothers, Randolph Hinson and William L. Hinson, and his sister, Faye Murphy.

Left to cherish his memory is his sister, Sandra H. Jordan (Ron) of Summerville, SC and his nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Riverside Cemetery in Albany, GA.

Fred Allen Wright

MCCOLL – Fred Allen Wright passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his family after an illness. He was 81 years old.

He was born in War, West Virginia on March 31, 1943, to the late James Thomas and Hattie Altizer Gardner. He was a Department Manager with Oak River Mills for 43 years. He was a Pvt. 1st Class in the United States Army serving in Germany during the Berlin War. He was a Handy Man and could fix and build anything. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He could see the good in everyone. He loved grilling, cooking, and eating at Shuler’s BBQ.

He leaves behind to cherish his loving memory; wife, Loraine Jacobs Wright; daughters, Stacey Herndon and husband Jamie and Jennifer Jacobs and husband Nicky; sister, Beulah “Bootsie” Mitchell; grandchildren, Chandler Jacob Herndon, Jett Allen Herndon (Autumn), Trey Herndon, Kameron Herndon, Berkeley Jacobs, Beckham Jacobs, Bowdrey Jacobs.

He was preceded in death by his parents listed above and sisters, Rose Ellen “Tootsie” Burke and Shirley Jean Bateman.

A funeral service was held 1pm Friday, July 26, 2024, at Burroughs Funeral Homes, officiated by Rev. Gary McMillian, with burial in Rogers Cemetery in McColl. A visitation was held from 6-8pm, Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Burroughs Funeral Home.
