CCSO has multiple suspects in custody in fatal shooting of a nine-year-old
The Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office has taken into custody seven juveniles and four adults in connection with the fatal shooting of a 9-year-old child in the Pageland area of Chesterfield County on Sunday, Sept. 28.
According to Chesterfield County Sheriff Cambo Streater, deputies responded to a shooting incident in a convenience store parking lot along Highway 9 in Pageland.
Once on scene, officials discovered the incident resulted in the death of a nine-year-old child from the Pageland area of Chesterfield County.
Sheriff Cambo Streater said Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office investigators, with assistance from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, identified and took into custody multiple suspects believed to be involved.
“This case has deeply impacted our community,” said Streater. “Our investigators have worked tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice. We remain committed to ensuring that every individual connected to this senseless act is held accountable.”
He added that the investigation is still ongoing, but once charges are finalized and suspects are formally charged, information will be provided.
The Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office extends its condolences to the victim’s family and thanks the community for its patience and cooperation throughout this investigation.
The CCSO also thanked the Pageland Police Department, McBee Police Department, the SLED Crime Scene Unit and the SLED Child Fatality Unit for their assistance.
