Lucille King Douglas
CHESTERFIELD — Lucille King Douglas, affectionately known as “MaCille,” of Chesterfield entered into rest October 28, 2025, at her home. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Thursday, October 30, 2025 at Chesterfield Baptist Church by Pastor Randy Bishop and Rev. Charles Owens with burial to follow in the Chesterfield Cemetery. The family greeted friends Thursday from 1:00 – 2:00 PM prior to the service in the sanctuary of Chesterfield Baptist Church, as well as on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the residence of Dr. John and Lu McLeod.
Mrs. Douglas was born August 23, 1928 in McBee, SC, a daughter of the late Ernest and Linnie Shaw King. She was a graduate of Chesterfield High School and retired from the Bank of Chesterfield and First Citizens Bank with 40 years of service. Mrs. Douglas was the oldest member of Chesterfield Baptist Church. She had previously served as treasurer of both the Chesterfield Cemetery Association and Chesterfield Ministerial Association for many years. She was also a former volunteer with Hospice of Chesterfield County and the Sunshine Shoppe.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Douglas was preceded in death by her husband David Franklin Douglas, Sr., after 73 years of marriage, sisters, Cora Lee Sellers and Willie Faye Hancock, and brother Dewey King.
Survivors include two sons, Franklin (Panda) Douglas of Bethune, SC, and Rev. Everett Douglas (Beth) of Rock Hill, SC; three daughters, Lu (Dr. John) McLeod of Chesterfield, Lynn Liles of Chesterfield, and Susan Scott of Albemarle, NC; nine grandchildren, John Douglas, Frank (Julie) Douglas, Bruce (Brianna) Douglas, Meagan Page, Lauren Strole, John Frank McLeod, Jeffrey Liles, Douglas (Katlynn) Liles and Hunter Scott; and seventeen great-grandchildren, Campbell Douglas, Will (Camryn) Douglas, David Douglas, Miller Douglas, Riley Douglas, Ellie Douglas, Kynlee Douglas, McKendrie Douglas, Lila Douglas, Caedmon Page, Jonas Page, Bethany Page, Gabe Liles, Carleigh Liles, Lexi Liles, Hannah Liles and Harper Liles.
The family extends sincere appreciation to her dedicated caregivers Mary Allsbrook, Dale Bryson, Wanda Dixon, Sheila Oliver, Melinda Smith and Diane Usher and to Gentiva Hospice of Chesterfield for the exceptional care provided to Mrs. Douglas. A special thanks to her son-in-law, Dr. John McLeod for his many years of loving care.

Calvin W. King
CHERAW — Calvin Wiley King, age 85, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2025. Born in Patrick, South Carolina, he was the beloved son of the late Calvin and Viola Boan King. A devoted member of Forest Pine Independent Baptist Church, Calvin lived a life characterized by hard work and dedication.
Throughout his career, Calvin spent over 30 years working for Furr Grading & Paving, earning a reputation as a skilled “Left-handed Diesel Mechanic.” His ability to fix anything was rooted in his early experiences working on the family farm, where he first demonstrated his resourcefulness by purchasing his first tractor at the age of 12. Even after retiring, Calvin remained active and continued to assist on local farms, including that of his friend, Jacqui Clarke. He was often seen driving his old blue Jeep Cherokee, pulling a grey work trailer, a familiar sight in his community.
Calvin leaves behind a loving family including his son, Eugene Andrew (Judy) Shelton of Cabot, Arkansas; daughters, April (James) Tyner of Cheraw, South Carolina, and Rose Walters of Wallace, South Carolina; and sisters, Lucy Kelly of Hartsville, South Carolina, Luon Causey of Nichols, SC, and Doris Gore of Chesterfield, South Carolina. He was proud to be a grandfather to granddaughters Frances, Jordan, Anna, and Gracie, and grandsons Calvin, Christopher, and Benjamin, as well as three great-grandchildren. He also cherished the special friendships he formed with Jacqui Clarke and Randy Deese.
Calvin was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Gwendolyn King, his parents listed above, a sister Nancy Haney, and a son-in-law Carlton Walters.
The family received friends on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 from 1:00 PM- 2:00 PM at Forest Pine Independent Baptist Church.
A funeral service followed at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at Forest Pine Independent Baptist Church.
Burial was in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Prior to the service, the family gathered at Mr. King’s home, 627 Stagecoach Road, Cheraw, SC.
He will be remembered for his unwavering spirit, love for family, and contributions to his community.

Randy ‘Catfish’ Parker
WALLACE — Randy “Catfish” Parker, 68, a beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family. Born in Cheraw, South Carolina, to Floyd and Frances Parker, Randy proudly served his country in the United States Air Force before retiring from INA Bearing in Cheraw. Known for his exceptional skill as an electrician and his ability to fix or fabricate anything, Randy was admired for his creativity, humor, and generosity. An avid outdoorsman, Randy earned his nickname “Catfish” doing what he loved most — fishing the Pee Dee River and Santee Cooper. If he wasn’t at home, he was likely on the water, rod in hand and a few more baited nearby, sharing stories and laughter. His quiet strength, good humor, and willingness to help others made him a cherished part of the Cheraw and Wallace communities.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Frances Parker; his brother, Ricky Parker; and his nephew, Ray Adams.
He Is survived by his devoted wife, Ann Butler Parker of Wallace; his siblings, Claudia Freeman of Wallace; Kathy (Jimmie) Teal of Wallace; James (Diana) Parker of Conway; his Aunt Gloria Trader of Hartsville, and a special family member, Johnny (Bertha Sue) Butler of Hartsville. Stepdaughter Carrie (David) Wilson of Hartsville.
Nieces and nephews include James Brock of Shreveport, Louisiana; Mandy (Andy) Griggs of Benton, Louisiana; Mike Teal of Cheraw; Tyra White (Mark) of Florence; Gene Freeman of Wallace; and Jarame (Sonia) Parker of Moncks Corner.
Great-nieces and great-nephews include Drew Griggs of Aurora, Colorado; Lizzie Griggs of Ruston, Louisiana; Joseph White of Florence; and Sabrina and Bridget Teal of Cheraw. Step-Grandchildren include Wyatt and Maggie Wilson of Hartsville.
Randy’s legacy of kindness, humor, and craftsmanship will live on through his family and the many friends who loved him. His laughter, his stories from the river, and his generous spirit will echo in their hearts forever.

A celebration of life was held following the visitation, at 3:00 PM on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at Kiser Funeral Home.

Celebrating the Life of Frank Gray Sloop, Jr.
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Frank Gray Sloop, Jr., who departed this life on October 29, 2025, at the age of 79.
A Life Well Lived
Born on September 27, 1946, in Mooresville, NC, Gray was the second of four children to Frank Gray Sloop, Sr. and Ruth Alice Ward. He grew up in Dublin, VA, where he developed a lifelong passion for wrestling, cows, and horses. Gray attended Dublin High School (Class of ’64) before moving on to Virginia Tech (Class of ’68, and a proud German Club member). After graduating from Virginia Tech, he joined the Army and served one tour of duty in Vietnam where he was wounded. He served his country bravely, earning the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He received a Bronze Star with Valor, a Purple Heart and the Army Commendation Medal among his accolades. After returning from the war, he went on to build a rewarding career as a cattleman and golf course superintendent, touching the lives of many through his dedication and compassion.
Family and Legacy
Gray was a devoted father and husband. He is survived by his wife Bea and three sons: Gray III (Ginger) and their two daughters, Taylor (Josh) and Grayson; Mike (Sarah) and their two sons, Brady and Logan, and daughter, Allie; and Phil (Sloop). He is also survived by his two sisters, Ruth Ann Whitener (Olin) and Mary Elizabeth Sloop, and a host of dear friends and relatives.
In Remembrance
A service to celebrate Gray’s life was held on Saturday, November 1st at First Presbyterian Church in Cheraw, SC, beginning at 2:00 pm. Family and friends were invited to gather, share stories, and honor the remarkable spirit that Gray shared with the world.
